But before I get into more detail and reveal how much power you have over your landlord and what you can do with it…

 

Let me share my personal story with you.

 

15 years ago, as a single father, working a full-time low paying job… (and having an asshole for a landlord)…

 

I had to learn the law to protect myself and my family.

 

I’ve been through the eviction system more than once.

 

My first time was as a teenager and I knew absolutely nothing about the system.

 

I fled my apartment immediately I saw the 5-day notice taped to my door.

 

The second time was a bit different though but it was much more embarrassing…

 

I used one of those churn and burn lawyers to get me out of an eviction…

 

I didn’t have an eviction on my record… and I didn’t have to pay the alleged past due rent.

BUT I STILL HAD TO MOVE BEFORE I WAS READY,

WHILE HAVING NO IDEA WHERE I WAS GOING

I put my family through that…

 

And that experience made me promise myself never to put my family through that again…

 

But more importantly… I was determined never to feel like that scared, evicted teenager ever again.

 

So I had to learn the law and empower myself.

 

And over the years…

 

I want you to remember this…

 

Over the years… I’ve learned that landlords and their lawyers are often more wrong than they are right.

 

Think about it.

 

In most cases… you know that your landlord probably just wants to retaliate and blow off steam by forcefully throwing you out of their apartment…

 

Just so that they can feel good about it.

 

And that’s completely unfair. Which is why it’s better to learn to fight.
